Washington Marijuana Laws

Initiative 502 (I-502) is the initiative that legalized recreational marijuana in Washington State as of 2012. Although marijuana consumption is legal for adults over the age of 21 there are still a few laws that are important to remember before lighting up.

You must be over the age of 21 to purchase, possess, or consume marijuana. If a minor is caught with marijuana the penalties could include fines, suspension of driver’s license, or possible drug rehab. It is illegal for a minor to even be on the property of a dispensary in Washington. So, if you’re under 21, please don’t stop by. (Yet!)
