It is four years behind schedule, but the flagship Diego Pellicer marijuana retail store is finally opening.
Passing its final inspection at the end of September, the premium marijuana brand’s first retail store now has the green light. It is scheduled to open Oct. 7 at 2215 Fourth Ave. S. in Seattle’s Sodo neighborhood.
“It has been a long bloody road, it really has,” said Douglas Anderson, the man behind the Diego Pellicer brand and founder and senior vice president of strategy and vision of the public company Diego Pellicer Worldwide. “If everything would have gone as planned, it would have opened in the summer of 2013.”
For now, Anderson’s public company is essentially a landlord for retail businesses that are licensed in states where marijuana has been legalized. But Anderson has big plans: he wants to create the world’s first national cannabis brand, and Seattle is the first step.
